When selecting the right Ligno-Scanner for your application consider measuring depth and the materials you want to measure. The measuring depth is crucial for any pinless meter.
Most pinless meters, just like the Ligno-Scanner D are calibrated for wood 3/4″ thick. The meters will not measure any deeper and if thinner boards are measured, measurements could be wrong. If you work with a variety of thicknesses, you can either stack thinner materials to a 3/4″ stack or you buy one of Lignomat’s dual-depth Ligno-Scanners.
The Scanner D has a reference scale for testing non-wood materials. Works good for Compare and Search Mode in restoration applications.
